The next three months will bring large visible changes to the One Dalton construction site. Underground foundation members will be completed which will spur the removal of two remaining crawler cranes onsite. The foundation cap beam, which holds the top of the foundation wall together, has begun and will wrap up over this time period. The bulk of the foundation excavation along with the installation of large brace frames will be performed over the next few months.
Some of the highlights for the next month are:
- Installation of large link plates into the cap beam.
- Excavation of top of slurry panels to prep for cab beam.
- Completion of the Foundation Cap Beam
- Removal of the crawler crane as well as the foundation crane
- Installation of the foundation brace frames.
- Excavation of Foundation Soils.
Behind the scenes the project team continues to coordinate to be prepared for the commencement of concrete work and the rise of One Dalton into the Skyline.

Over the next two months we will be continuing the installation of our deep foundation by installing the secant wall and slurry wall panels. After installing multiple primary secant piles we will begin installing the deep socket secants which are reinforced with steel beams that tie into bedrock nearly 150 feet below ground level. The installation of our foundation will be near completion by the end of January and we will be preparing for excavation.
Some of the highlights for the next month are:
-
Welding and splicing of deep socket secant beams.
-
Continued fabrication of rebar cages for slurry wall panels
-
Installation of the core of our foundation including 18 panels that will support the center of the structure.
-
Excavation and installation of remaining guide walls.
Over the next two months we will be continuing the installation of our deep foundation and beginning the installation of the secant wall. All remaining elevations of the slurry wall tie into bedrock 150’ below the building. The secant wall will consist of piles tying into bedrock 150’ below, and primary piles which will be 65’ below the building.
Some highlights of the next month include:
-
Off-site fabrication of rebar cages.
-
Excavating slurry wall panels and drilling for secant piles.
-
Installation of beams into secondary secant piles.
-
Installation of core foundation panels and inner foundation beams.
-
Splicing of rebar cages.
Over the next two months we will be continuing the installation of the deep foundation for the tower. We have begun building and setting slurry wall panels which will be continued throughout August and lead into the building of our secant wall foundation in September. All of the foudation elements will be connected to the bedrock more than 150' below the building.
Some of the highlights for the next month are:
- Excavating slurry wall panels and building rebar cages
- Setting rebar cages and pouring concrete
- Completing demolition of the turntable near Dalton and Clearway street.
- Installation of temporary retaining wall
- Drilling for secant wall
- Temporary electrical work
Over the next month we expect to continue preparing the site for the building foundation. Some of the highlights for the next month are:
- Completing pre-trenching for the slurry wall.
- Mobilizing the slurry plant.
- Performing select demolition of the existing ramp and dock structure.

Expected February/March 2015 Progress
Over the next two months we will be finishing the installation of the deep foundation and will begin excavation of the inner-foundation. We will be completing installation of the Slurry Wall panels and also the Secant Wall, and will be preparing for lateral support of excavation.
Some of the highlights of the next two months will include;
-
Finishing installation of our deep socket secant piles which tie into bedrock more than 160 feet below grade.
-
Finishing installation of slurry wall panels
-
Excavation and installation of our Buttress Panels
-
Removal of temporary guide walls
-
Begin excavation of site
-
Install cross bracing between foundation elements as lateral support of excavation.
